On International Women’s Day, we are very proud to have the support of sisters Katie Robertson and Emma Rioch, co-owners of The Nurture Nursery, a family-run children’s nursery in Bathgate, West Lothian.
As well as celebrating women in their local community, Katie and Emma are also marking the day by raising funds for causes close to their hearts, including Brain Tumour Support. They chose to support the charity after local mum Ashley Griffin, whose young son Forbes attends the nursery, was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Ashley and her family turned to Brain Tumour Support for help in January 2021, following emergency surgery and feeling shocked and overwhelmed by her sudden diagnosis.
Emma and Katie said
“We are happy to support Ashley, Forbes and family through these fundraisers.
Ashley has been so strong throughout her illness and continues to maintain such a positive outlook for herself and Forbes. We hope to raise as much as possible through our International Women’s Day fundraiser.”
Ashley is currently going through further treatment, but she remains positive and talks about the difference that having support has made:
“I feel I am a positive person and TRY and see the best in every situation and with the ‘tools’ I have gained from Brain Tumour Support it keeps me going!”
We are very grateful to Ashley for sharing her story, and to Katie and Emma for their wonderful support and fundraising.
Three women making a difference for both International Women’s Day and Brain Tumour Awareness Month.
