This summer, we’re launching a new fundraising event called Walk for Support. This is a flexible walking fundraiser which people can do at their own pace, route and distance to help support individuals and families facing a brain tumour diagnosis.
Individuals, families, businesses and community groups are invited to take part on 20 – 21 June, or choose a date that works best for them.
Nadia Hall, Fundraising Manager said: “Around every half hour in the UK, someone is told they have a brain tumour. This shock diagnosis can lead to complex physical and emotional challenges, and treatment options are still limited.
“We believe no one should face a brain tumour diagnosis alone. So, we’re inviting people of all ages and fitness levels to take part in Walk for Support to help fund our vital support services, which includes counselling, online and in person support groups and telephone helpline. Whether you’re walking in memory of a loved one, to support someone impacted by a brain tumour or to simply show you care, every step walked and every pound raised makes a huge difference to our community.”
Walk for Support is open to everyone aged 18 or over. Registration is £10 per person to cover fundraising resources and event administration, with a suggested fundraising target of £50. Children are welcome to join when accompanied by a parent or guardian, and can take part free of charge. Supporters have the flexibility to choose what their walking challenge looks like, for example:
