Thornbury Golf Club raises £8,700 for Brain Tumour Support

Over the past year, Thornbury Golf Club has raised £8,700 for Brain Tumour Support.

Brain Tumour Support was named the Captain’s Charity of 2025, with both the Mens and Ladies sections raising money through a series of tournaments and fundraisers. Club member James Poole also took on the ‘Weston Super Half’ marathon in October, raising an impressive £520.

Brain Tumour Support attended the club’s annual awards evening last month, where Men’s Captain Rob Poole presented the charity with a cheque. This generous contribution will help provide emotional and practical support for individuals and families impacted by a brain tumour diagnosis.

Nadia Hall, Fundraising Manager at Brain Tumour Support said: “Every day in the UK, 45 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour. A brain tumour diagnosis often leads to complex emotional, practical and cognitive challenges, so we step in to wrap our arms of support around the individual and their family. Thornbury Golf Club raised an incredible amount, which will help provide ongoing support to nine families facing a brain tumour diagnosis. We’d like to thank everyone at the club for their support and generosity.”

David Weeks, Thornbury Golf Club Chairman added: “Sadly, many people know someone affected by a brain tumour, so we were delighted to raise money for Brain Tumour Support. The club really came together with a great sense of community spirit and generosity to support this worthwhile cause.”
