Sparkle Day at Bristol Care Homes

Earlier this month, staff at Bristol Care Homes organised a fun-filled day for residents to raise money for Brain Tumour Support’s Sparkle Season.

Residents at Glebe House in Almondsbury, Beech House in Thornbury, Field House in Horfield and Quarry House in Fishponds donned sparkly accessories and took part in a range of activities from walks, arts and crafts sessions and even a physio trampoline lesson.

Anant Sanadhya, Marketing Assistant at Bristol Care Homes said: “Brain Tumour Support helps patients and families in the difficult times following a brain tumour diagnosis. We wanted to do our bit to help, and spread some light and fun with our staff and residents. It was a day full of glitter, joy and community spirit, reminding us all how much a little sparkle can brighten the day while supporting a wonderful cause. We will definitely be organising another Sparkle Day in 2026!”

Sarah Nelmes, Fundraising Coordinator said: “It was wonderful to see residents and staff get into the spirit of our Sparkle Season and celebrate Bonfire Day with a glittery twist. The team at Bristol Care Homes organised a great selection of activities and residents I spoke to said it was a fantastic day.

“The events also helped raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Support. Every day in the UK, 45 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour which has a deep impact on the patient and their family. We step in to put our arms of support around anyone diagnosed with any type of brain tumour, offering practical and emotional guidance. We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone at Bristol Care Homes for their hard work in supporting our wonderful cause.”

Sparkle Season is a fun way of fundraising to support families with brain tumours. From schools and workplaces to family gatherings and community events, Sparkle Season lets people have fun, spread kindness and raise vital funds for families impacted by brain tumours.
