Sparkle Day, Friday 1 October, saw a wonderful event organised to spread sparkly fun, share the message of support and raise funds for Brain Tumour Support’s much-needed services.
A virtual sparkle quiz night, organised by two members of our Cornwall and Devon support groups, Ellen Yates and Jeanette Hackwell, proved to be a great success. It brought together 29 people, including a couple joining all the way from Oslo, Norway.
Ellen said “It was such a lot of fun. Jeanette devised the quiz with 60 questions in 10 different categories, most having something to do with sparkles. And it was great to have so many smiling faces joining us from across the country and even overseas.”
With a fun trophy and prize awarded to the quiz winners (and a special medal for last place too!), the evening was full of laughter and friendship. It raised £127 from the small fee charged to take part and was enjoyed so much that plans are already underway to hold a Christmas quiz for Brain Tumour Support (BTS).
Jayne Mallard, Brain Tumour Support’s Fundraising Officer, said “It looked like everyone had such a brilliant time, in the real spirit of Sparkle. And we’re so appreciative of the wonderful funds raised, such a supportive group of people. Thank you to everyone who helped the evening sparkle!”

A quiz is a great way to have some fun with friends, whether virtually or in person, and a ready-made Sparkle Quiz is available along with other sparkly resources in the Sparkle fundraising pack.
