Ian and Holly run for Support

A very big thank you to Ian Sayers, along with his daughter Holly, who completed a half marathon challenge on Saturday having trained since December in all winds and weather.

Ian chose to raise valuable funds for Brain Tumour Support after seeing the ongoing impact a brain tumour diagnosis has had on his wife Emma.

Describing her as “beautiful, strong and determined” Ian said that her diagnosis in 2018 of a trigeminal brain tumour “hit us like a truck”. He explained that, despite successful surgery to remove the tumour, “The after-effects are still with her and she has to live with this daily, not that anyone would know.”

At the time of Emma’s diagnosis and treatment, the family were unaware of the help available through Brain Tumour Support, and that motivated Ian to fundraise for us. “The pre-operation diagnosis and support was great, the skill of the surgeon unquestioned. The aftercare and psychological support is where it all fell down. That’s why I am raising funds – the impact on Emma was massive and ongoing.”

Talking about his running challenge Ian said “Our daughter Holly is an absolute star!… But it was helping her train to join the RAF that got me into doing some running… It’s all her fault!” Well, we certainly think that both Ian and Holly can be very proud of their achievement and we are extremely grateful for their support.
