Yate and District Bowls Club raise £1,200 for Brain Tumour Support

Members of Yate and District Bowls Club chose Brain Tumour Support as their club charity for 2026, raising £1,200 through fundraising and donations throughout the season. This could help fund 12 one-to-one counselling sessions for local families facing a brain tumour diagnosis.

Club President, BJ Smith said, “Every year we ask the club to choose a local charity and this season we had an overwhelming number of votes for Brain Tumour Support. This South Gloucestershire charity does wonderful work helping people living with brain tumours and their loved ones. We were delighted to support this charity and present a cheque on the final meet of the year.”

Nadia Hall, Fundraising Manager at Brain Tumour Support added, “Every day in the UK, 45 people are told they have a brain tumour and many of the families we work with describe feelings of shock, fear and despair following diagnosis. We believe nobody should face a brain tumour alone and offer personalised support packages, including counselling, to help families navigate the many challenges this diagnosis brings.

“We are so grateful for our community of fundraisers and this donation from Yate Bowls Club will help fund the equivalent of 12 one-to-one counselling sessions for local families impacted by a brain tumour diagnosis. We’d like to thank everyone at the club for their generous support.”
