Ton-Yr-Ywen Primary School, Heath, near Cardiff, are joining Sparkle Up Your Day on Friday 1 October 2021.
Debbie Smith, one of two Support Professionals based in Wales delivering Brain Tumour Support’s specialised support services, has a daughter at the school and is delighted that the reception classes will be making a whole day of Sparkling Up for Brain Tumour Support.
The children and all staff will dress in their sparkliest clothing all day.
Staff from the school will organise bucket collections of cash during the school’s morning and afternoon pick up and drop off, as well as having collections in reception and throughout the school on the day.
Debbie joined the Brain Tumour Support team in June this year, motivated by the charity’s vision – that no one feels alone when facing the effects of a brain tumour.
She says, “I feel extremely privileged to be part of a wonderful team at Brain Tumour Support who are absolutely committed to providing 1:1 and group support to anyone affected by a brain tumour diagnosis.”
Mr Griffiths, Headteacher at Ton-Yr-Ywen Primary shared his own connection to the work of the charity, “We are happy to support Brain Tumour Support and draw attention to the valuable work you are doing. My nephew had a brain tumour when he was 5. I know something about how much such news can turn a family’s world upside down in just a moment. Charities like Brain Tumour Support do such important work to support families and bring some order and normality back to life again.”
Tina Mitchell Skinner, CEO of Brain Tumour Support, says, “I’m so pleased that Debbie and Ton-Yr-Ywen Primary School have got behind our Sparkle campaign and it is wonderful knowing that over 60 children and their teachers are going all out with the fundraising and putting on their sparkle for Brain Tumour Support.”
Debbie adds, “The staff at Ton-Yr-Ywen are extremely excited about Sparkle Day and the fundraising for Brain Tumour Support. It is very much a friendly inclusive school and I just know they will go all out to sparkle and raise funds for the charity – I can’t wait to see it!”
