Robin Celebrates after crossing the finishing line of the Tokyo Marathon!
Long-time supporter and fundraiser, Robin-Mark Schols, recently completed the Tokyo Marathon, the last of the six world majors under his belt.
“Well what an adventure Tokyo was!” Robin shares about the once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“When I first started running marathons, I never imagined one day I would complete the world’s six majors, but in 2019 after completing New York City, it dawned on me that it just might happen. Then Covid struck… Once the pandemic was over, I completed Boston and Berlin marathons in 2022, leaving just Chicago and Tokyo to complete the six. I completed Chicago in October 2023, and gained a place for the Tokyo Marathon to complete the set this year. I picked up an injury that threatened to thwart the grand finale, meaning I had to be really conservative with training to ensure I get enough recovery to at least give me half a chance. It compromised my performance but, I got it done and was thrilled to raise almost £900 for Brain Tumour Support to add to the celebrations. It makes it all worthwhile!”

Robin now looks forward to his annual running event in Westbury, Wiltshire, The Hilly Helmet Challenge. This ever-popular family event attracts 100s of local runners who come together with creatively decorated helmets, to complete the 4 mile, multi terrain route, raising vital funds for Brain Tumour Support. This year’s run takes place on Wednesday 7th August at the Leighton Recreation Centre. Entries are open and you can secure your place from £15 – all proceeds go to fund vital support services.
