For the second year running, long-time supporter, Penny Dommett opens her garden for Brain Tumour Support.
Penny is a full-time, professional garden designer, and has been working on this garden since 1981. The space was created from a corner of a pasture field and over the last 40 years has been gradually added to. The garden is divided into four main areas, the ornamental garden surrounding the house, the pond area, the paddock and the cutting garden.
Despite the typical British summer weather (it rained all weekend!) generous volunteers and visitors made the event a huge success, raising over £2,500 in total!
Visitors were welcome to look around the space at their own leisure, or there was the option to sign up for a guided tour, led by Penny herself, for £10 per person. Fellow gardeners were able to pick up plenty of handy tips and tricks from Penny’s expertise, and could even purchase some plants to take back home and plant in their own gardens! Many local businesses kindly donated plants, and floral bouquets for visitors to purchase, with all proceeds of course going to Brain Tumour Support.
Thank you so much to our fantastic team of volunteers, who worked tirelessly to ensure that visitors had tea, coffee and cakes, as well as manning the raffle. Additionally, talented local musicians kept spirits high as they filled the garden with relaxing music.
