Dan King, from Cornwall, has shared his surprise and pleasure in being the winner of Brain Tumour Support’s recent Scottish Highlands cabin stay prize draw.
The Crowdfunder prize draw offered the chance to win a week’s stay in a cabin in the Cairngorm National Park, a magical location, surrounded by the nature and wildlife.
After receiving the phone call with the good news that he had won, Dan said
“I was absolutely amazed – I was in the woods walking the dog at the time, and couldn’t believe it. It’s such fabulous news. I’ve never won anything before.”
Dan knows from his own experience what it’s like to cope with a brain tumour diagnosis and the importance of having good support around you. He explained,
“I was diagnosed with a glioblastoma in January 2009 and Brain Tumour Support have supported me for around 10 years, ever since I saw a poster advertising the Truro support group. I have made some really good friends via BTS and the support groups. The charity has always been there to help, just knowing that people are there for you, whether it be with financial or emotional help and support.”
Dan is now looking forward to his week’s stay in the cabin which is booked for the beginning of September.

The truly unique prize was gifted by Founding Patron and loyal supporters of Brain Tumour Support, David Sandeman and his wife Elizabeth. Thanks to their generosity and everyone who entered the draw, the Crowdfunder raised a fantastic total of £1,505 – well beyond its initial target and providing vital funds for our support services.
