Brain Tumour Support is launching a new campaign for this year’s Brain Tumour Awareness Month (BTAM) in March, designed to spread the message ‘Support matters – Because you matter‘.The month-long campaign is also raising vital funds through the Sponsor a Support Professional initiative and is being headed up by the charity’s ambassadors, who all have a personal understanding of the devastating effect that a brain tumour diagnosis can have on the lives of not just the individual but family and loved ones too. They have also all experienced the difference that finding the right support makes.

Brain Tumour Support is uniquely dedicated to providing support for anyone affected by any type or grade of brain tumour, whether as a patient, family member, friend or carer. The specialist services are provided free, at any point from diagnosis and for as long as support is needed, even following bereavement.
Brain Tumour Support celebrity ambassadors Joel Dommett and Hannah Cooper said: “We want everyone to get behind Brain Tumour Support in Brain Tumour Awareness Month and help raise vital funds through the Sponsor a Support Professional initiative.
“The support that charity Brain Tumour Support provides is needed more than ever to help patients and families deal with the complex challenges that can follow any brain tumour diagnosis. There are over 120 different types of brain tumours, and the more often quoted statistics around high-grade tumours clearly show what a devastating diagnosis this is to receive. However, the lower grade tumours, despite often being called ‘benign’, can also be life-limiting and life-changing.”
CEO Tina Mitchell Skinner said, “We are very proud of the service we have provided since the charity began its work in 2003. This year we want to increase the support we currently provide and grow the number of Support Professionals we have, and to do this we need to raise £20,000 for each additional full-time Support Professional. We welcome all fundraisers through the month of March to help us in our Sponsor a Support Professional campaign, and we are especially encouraging people to get together and raise some funds with a ‘Cake and a Cuppa’ event. The origins of our charity lie in the simple act of people coming together for a drink and chat to support each other, and so raising funds in this way is particularly meaningful to us.”
Brain Tumour Support is passionate in its vision that no one should feel alone when faced with a brain tumour diagnosis and that appropriate support should be available for all, no matter what type or grade of brain tumour. The month will also highlight many people’s experiences, encouraging others to share their stories using the hashtags #BTAM2022, #SupportMatters, and #BecauseYouMatter, as well as the downloadable graphics available on the charity website.
