Lucy Wilkinson
Head of Support Services
My work in the world of brain tumours began in 2008, when as an academic at the University of Birmingham, I was involved in a research project focussed on exploring the use of re-purposed drugs to target rapidly-dividing brain tumour cell lines. Following this, I became a qualified counsellor and my professional life took a different turn.
My career with BTS started in 2017, as a support professional in the midlands, running support groups and attending outpatient clinics. Over the past few years, with the restrictions of COVID, I have been involved with re-shaping our support services, resulting in our current hybrid model. Over the past year, I have been managing the support services, alongside Ginny. Apart from managing the team, I am also responsible for overseeing safeguarding for the organisation.
Outside of work, I enjoy adventuring and spending time with my family. I am also a keen crafter, with a particular interest in sea glass hunting and making jewellery and pictures. I keep fit day to day by caring for and riding our pony, Phoebe!
