Meet Ginny

Nice to meet you!  I’m Ginny

Picture of Ginny Brink, Support Services Manager for Brain Tumour SupportI was keen to join BTS because I had worked with the organisation in a previous role and loved their values, their friendly, warm approach and their passion and commitment to helping people with brain tumours. I have family experience of the impact of a brain tumour: my father lost his father to a brain tumour and my cousin has a benign brain tumour, both tumours causing physical and mental ill health and serious financial difficulties.

I bring with me 15 years experience of working in health and specifically cancer services and a passion for helping people live their best possible lives. I also bring the experience of working in the arts and promoting the value of the arts to health and wellbeing, being a teacher in black ‘township’ schools in Cape Town, a picture editor for a publishing company, an advocate for clients with dementia at Age Concern and a counsellor for a drug and alcohol agency.

In my spare time, I walk in the countryside and swim in the sea, paint, garden and care for my 91-year-old father. I love Thai food, hot weather, cats, audiobooks, mint humbugs, home, silence and the stars on a clear night in the wilderness! I grew up in Zimbabwe and have lived in South Africa, Australia, England and Wales. One of the best things I ever did was make the life-changing decision to return to being a student in my 30s to do an art degree!
