Relaxation and managing stress

Managing stress

Living with a brain tumour, whether it is you or a loved one with the diagnosis, can cause a lot of anxiety, stress and worry, especially around the time of scans, treatment or appointments. This can lead to other problems such as difficulty sleeping or concentrating, irritability and increased feelings of being overwhelmed.

There are different things that you can try to reduce these symptoms

  • taking a bath
  • reading a book
  • being in nature.

Increasingly, people are finding that incorporating practices, such as meditation, mindfulness, yoga or breath work into your life, can be incredibly beneficial.

There are many books, podcasts, apps, videos or social media accounts that may be able to help you with this, especially if these are new to you. It may be worth trying different things to find what suits you best.  Read our information on worrying about a brain tumour.
