Open Gardens — your anytime fundraiser

Open your garden for Brain Tumour Support and help ensure no one faces a brain tumour diagnosis alone

Whether you have a tiny courtyard, a front garden full of pots, or a big outdoor space you’ve poured your heart into, opening your garden is a lovely way to bring people together and raise vital funds for Brain Tumour Support.

  • When: Anytime (choose a date that suits you)
  • Where: Your garden (or shared with neighbours)
Register your garden

What is Open Gardens?

Open Gardens is a simple, feel-good fundraiser where you welcome visitors into your garden for a few hours (or a full day), invite donations, and optionally add little extras like tea and cake, plant stalls, or mini tours.

It can be as relaxed or as organised as you like — the important thing is the warmth, the welcome, and the difference your fundraising makes.

How it works

  • Register your garden: Tell us your planned date(s) and a few details so we can support you.
  • Get ready: A quick tidy, clear paths, and any small accessibility touches you can manage.
  • Spread the word: Share locally and online — we can point you to materials to help.
  • Welcome visitors: Invite donations, chat, and enjoy the day.

If you’d like to collect online donations too, you can set up a JustGiving page and share the link with visitors.

Ideas to make your open garden special

You don’t need a “show garden” — people love real gardens with personality. Here are a few easy ideas if you want to add a little something extra:

  • Tea and cake corner: A simple refreshment table with suggested donations.
  • Mini garden tours: Point out favourite plants, wildlife spots or “before and after” areas.
  • Plant or seed sale: Cuttings, seedlings, or spare pots can raise a surprising amount.
  • Theme it lightly: “Wildlife garden”, “colour theme”, “edible patch” or “tiny garden inspiration”.
  • Kid-friendly touch: A simple nature trail, scavenger hunt, or seed-planting station.

Collecting donations

Your visitors can donate in whatever way works best for you.

  • Donation box: Place one at the entrance and (if helpful) another at the exit.
  • Online fundraising: Use a JustGiving page for guests who prefer to donate digitally.
  • Suggested donation: A gentle prompt (e.g. “£3–£5 per visitor”) can help — totally optional.

Why your fundraising matters

Your Open Gardens fundraiser helps Brain Tumour Support provide vital emotional and practical support to people affected by brain tumours — at a time when life can feel frightening, uncertain and overwhelming.

Funds raised help support:

  • Specialist counselling
  • Telephone and online support
  • Support groups (online and in person)
  • Practical guidance for individuals, families and carers

Every garden counts, and every visitor makes a difference.
