Volunteer Co-ordinator Gavin

My name is Gavin Davies (most people know me as Gav!) and I am the Volunteer Co-ordinator for Brain Tumour Support.

I live in Tonteg near Pontypridd in South Wales with my wife and two children and I joined Brain Tumour Support in March 2022.

I have over 15 years experience working in mental health and I have previously carried out numerous roles within third sector organisations from working as a Homelessness Intervention Case Worker in Blaenau Gwent to a Service Manager for mental health community based support services in Caerphilly. Prior to working in mental health I studied for a BA Hons degree in Media Studies and Psychology.

In my spare time? Well I love sport and music, reading and listening to audiobooks. Being around nature is also important to me when walking my greyhound Joanie – though you can see from the picture that as a typical sighthound she’s not too keen on the rain!

I love working with people and believe my professional experience and personal background can help bring insight and empathy to supporting others. The work being carried out at BTS is amazing and the stories of individuals supported by the charity are really inspiring.

I’m so proud to come into this award-winning team and really looking forward to developing the work with all of our fantastic volunteers – as well as welcoming new ones.
