Support Expanding for
Pilot Meeting for Meningioma Group
We are looking to another new development in support groups to address specific needs attached to, for example, tumour type, age, or some other criteria. As a result on 13th October we ran the first pilot meeting for a specialised Meningioma Support Group in Bristol.
The group is being organised in partnership with Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) from Southmead Hospital, Bristol. They requested our involvement having recognised that in most areas patients with non-malignant tumours do not have automatic access to Clinical Nurse Specialists or ANPs, so peer support through a group is for them even more valuable. Through the two pilot meetings - the second one will be March 8th 2016 - we are inviting patients, loved ones and carers, to come along and discuss directly what is most wanted from future groups. Download our flier for further details.
Similarly we are currently assessing the need for and benefit of a group supporting people after bereavement.
We are committed to our support services being driven by what patients and carers tell us they need, and we hope that through ever closer relationships with regional neuro teams and other organisations we will be able to respond to that even more effectively.
