Amazing Skydivers

A daring member of our Wolverhampton Support Group, Tammy Henn, took to the skies last Sunday, August 14th, and jumped out of a plane for Brain Tumour Support - and she came back with some amazing photographs of her experience.
Tammy smashed her fundraising target too - so far she has raised over £700 (including Gift Aid) and she is still accepting donations if you would like to contribute to her total - www.justgiving.com/fundraising/tammy-henn3.
Big thanks to Tammy and everyone who has sponsored her.

We would also like to say good luck for our intrepid jumpers who are hoping to be part of an official Guinness World Record Skydive in three days time. The record attempt had to be postponed from its original date in June due to bad weather - see our previous news item here.
So we are hoping that the new date, Monday 22nd August, will be more favourable. Watch this space, and we wish them all happy jumping!

And if you think skydiving might be the experience for you too, do take a look at our skydiving page and get in touch with our fundraising team.

Jessica's Amazing Fundraising

We have been touched and inspired by the commitment of 10 year old Jessica Hubbard, who has joined with friends to fundraise for Brain Tumour Support in her local neighbourhood.

Jessica alongside her amazing fundraising friends.
From left to right they are: Lotti (aged 5), Jessica (aged 10), Liliah (aged 10) and Holly (aged 10)

Jessica's father Martin has fought a 12 year battle having been diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumour in 2004, followed by a second tumour found in 2011. As a result he has faced intensive rounds of radiotherapy, surgery and chemotherapy, and the whole family have experienced the devastating impact that this has had.

Determined to help others in a similar position, Jessica wanted to raise funds for the local Wolverhampton Brain Tumour Support Group, and she has come up with all sorts of ideas to achieve her goal.

With help of good friends she has organised a neighbourhood stall to sell home-made rose petal perfume, lavender bunches, cards, and tea lights, as well as bric-a-brac (mostly unwanted books and old toys) and, when the weather has been hot, even ice lollies.

Jessica set a target of raising £100 by the end of the summer holidays, but as they have already raised £75 she has now increased the target to £150.
On 14th August the intrepid charity fundraisers have a stall planned at a wider charity event at the local village hall, and they plan to continue with their regular stand on the park throughout the summer holidays and will also be introducing cupcake sales and a car washing service!

To promote their stall and services they have even designed and produced a special flyer which they will be posting through letter boxes in their neighbourhood over the coming weeks.

Jessica's mother, Sarah, says "We are extremely proud of what she is doing, with the help of some very good friends. She has been an inspiration to her friends who have also now begun to raise money for charities they feel passionate about, with some of them having been inspired to sell their unwanted toys to contribute towards Jessica's fund raising."

The enthusiasm and entrepreneurial spirit of Jessica and her friends is an inspiration to us too, and our heartfelt thanks go out to Jessica, her family and friends.
